“What’s the Matter” is What Matters

How do we deal with a world gone crazy?

Questions??For thousands of years, our human family has dealt with pandemics, wars, political turmoil, volatile planetary conditions, discrimination and more.

We are still living the same stories today. Five thousand years later.

Why does it feel crazier? What’s the matter with people? What’s the matter with our individual lives? Governments? Financial systems? Education? …

Did you notice that these questions I just posed have only to do with what is outside of me? When I try to respond to any of these questions, I only mire myself deeper into the chaos.

The most important question I can ask is “What matters to ME?”

As you become clearer on what matters to you, then you become the solution the world needs. Every one of us is a solution to the challenges around us.

Why is it important to know what really matters to you?

Knowing what really matters to you is essential to spiritual health. Spiritual wellbeing is the most neglected aspect of wellness. And it is the most essential.

Health Tip of the Month

As winter approaches, and the days become shorter with cooler temperatures, it’s easy to become more listless. Many of us shelter at home and await the return of Spring and the warmer weather.

Instead, set an intention to remaiin active through the colder months. Here’s some suggestions:

  • Take a walk. Dress for the weather – it’s been said there is no bad weather, just poor choices in clothing.
  • Go cross country skiing. It’s great exercise and many of the trails are stunning!
  • Make a snowman. You might need a couple of kids to help.
  • Downhill skiing is also a great way to enjoy the outdoors.
  • Take the kids tobogganing – you’ll be surprised at what a great workout climbing back up the hill is.
  • Set a regular gym schedule, and stick to it. I prefer the outdoors, but if you really don’t like the cold, this is a good alternative.
  • Continue to eat healthy. Poor diet and lack of exercise are a guarantee of undesireable weight gain. And don’t forget your vitamins. Vitamin D is important year round, but especially so in the winter as we don’t get much natural sunlight.

War cemetary in Belgium“Lest we forget”

We remember them. They were so brave.
The price they paid. The life they gave.
For by their death they bought us peace.
They gave their life that wars may cease.

This Month’s Gift

Gratitude Journal

On November 11th at 5:45 am, the armistice was signed in Compiègne, France for the cessation of hostilities which took effect at 11:00 am – the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month” to bring an end to the First World War. 66,349 Canadians died durig the conflict, and each of them has earned our gratitude, for without their heroism, the world would be very different today.

Tomorrow is a perfect time to start your gratitude journal. Begin with gratitude for the men and women who sacrificed their lives for our freedoms.

Each day after, find at least one thing (many of you will find more – even a lot more) for which you are grateful. Record your thoughts in the Gratitude Journal.
