From Chaos to Calm: How Music Can Support Emotional Health
What does calm mean to you?
The experience of calm supports your health and well-being in so many ways! We usually associate calm with an emotional response. It is also a physical response.
When you are in a calm state, your heartbeat slows down, lowering your blood pressure. As your heartbeat slows down, so does your breathing and brainwave state. Your muscles relax. A ‘neural cocktail’ of hormones enters your nervous system like dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin and hormones that support your immune system and overall well-being.
So, how can you create this wonderful state in a hectic life? Your natural wiring for sound makes it almost automatic! To find out more about how deeply every part of you is wired to respond to sound, please for Wired for Sound:
Have you ever wondered how people can remember the name of a song in seconds? Radio stations host all kinds of contests where the fastest caller gets the prize.
Experiments in the field of neuroscience have found that many of us can do this in a fraction of a second to two seconds. That’s remarkable! Yet your brain is wired to do this.
Health Tip of the MonthThe Most Relaxing Song EverA recent scientific study commissioned by Radox Spa found a song that stimulated the best relaxation response of all those tested. The song is called “Weightless” by the Manchester, UK band Marconi Union. Marconi Union worked with sound therapists and scientists to use the most recent information on how sound affects the relaxation response when they created the music. Following is a link to listen on YouTube – (you can skip the ads in 5 seconds).

7 Sound Self-Care Tips
Sound is humanity’s most ancient healer. And modern science is now documenting the human being’s deep and intimate wiring to respond to sound. Sound was our first healer for good reason.
Why is Sound Healing such a powerful modality? Because sound works at the basic foundation of matter itself – as vibrational energy.
Sound is an energy that, combined with your intention, can CHANGE HOW MATTER ITSELF VIBRATES.
This guide is a great introduction to just how powerful sound is, some of it’s huge benefits, and how it can be incorporated into your routine.
