What is an Emergent WorkForce™?
An Emergent WorkForce™ is not a program, but an outcome, where people are inspired, creative, purposeful and passionate about the contribution they make to their organization, and to the world. This outcome is achieved by providing powerful tools to manage stress, to improve health and wellness, and to build strong interpersonal skills, all leading to higher performance, higher engagement, and higher satisfaction.
Even with the enormous advances we have experienced over the past 100 years, people are suffering from more chronic illness than they ever have. Many people are struggling within their workplace. Stress as a reason for absence from work has increased 316 percent since 1995 with 500,000 Canadians absent every week. Between absenteeism, which is when employees call in sick, and presenteeism, which is when employees show up to work but aren’t performing at the level they would normally be at, the overall cost to the Canadian economy is $50 billion annually.
Because we are all so deeply wired to respond to sound and music, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, Sound Wellness is a powerful strategy to effectively manage stress, to reclaim the brain, and to reconnect with inner strength and purpose. We all need this!
Health Tip of the MonthAlways Stay MindfulMindfulness has a significant impact on communication and safety. Mindfulness is being fully present to the moment in non-judgemental awareness. Staying mindful of our surroundings is particularly important now, with our current health challenges. Mindfulness is a proven way to reduce stress and improve health (physical, emotional and mental). Incorporating mindfulness into your day brings the life back into life! |

Psychological Health and Wellness in the workplace has garnered a great deal of attention in the past few years. With good reason.
Did you know that nationally, an average of 55.9% of payroll is wasted
on stress related costs (absenteeism, presenteeism, active disengagement, turnover and accidents)? Prior to COVID, that number was 34%. And now, over 85% of Canadians that were surveyed by the Mental Health Commission reported higher levels of stress than 15 months ago.
The cost to individuals is beyond measure. Health problems range from muscle aches and pains, and susceptibility to colds and the flu to heart attacks, strokes, cancer and diabetes. Relationships are often strained, and even put at risk. And the ultimate cost – it was just announced that in Alberta, deaths from drug overdoses have increased 60% over this time last year.

Solutions from the Emergent WorkForce™
We are all well aware of the impact of current health restrictions on the workforce. Most are working from home, socially isolated, worried about their health, and the health of their family. Worried about how the economy will survive. Worried about their own finances. Worried about the health risks of returning to their physical workplace. Worried about . . .
18 months ago, companies essentially lost about 34% of their total payroll due to the cost of absenteeism, of presenteeism (when an employee is physically present, but not emotionally or mentally present), of mistakes, and more. Today, that number is just over 55%. Is anyone surprised by this?
It’s more likely that we’re surprised that the number isn’t higher!
We understand, and we’re here to help.
Programs at the Emergent WorkForce™ are designed to get to the root of the problem. Presenteeism isn’t the problem. Absenteeism isn’t the problem. Lack of focus, concentration, inattention to detail aren’t the problem. Those are just the symptoms.
The problem may be stress, and the body’s response to stress. As one client said, “my project management team are like deer caught in the headlights, frozen and unable to work”.
The problem may be engagement. That’s why, on average, 71% of the workforce is looking for another job.
On top of that, each organization has it’s own set of problems. And yes, they are problems, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be overcome.
Each organization is unique. Each has it’s own set of challenges. We work with you to reveal the unique challenges of your workforce, the source of those challenges, and we offer a combination of solutions tailored to your unique needs, including:
- powerful tools to help manage stress
- development of strong communication skills
- using perceptual intelligence
- awakening emotional intelligence
- discovering mindfulness
- And that’s just the beginning.
For the past 15 years Sound Wellness has offered nationally recognized training for holistic practitioners who wish to expand their practice to include sound therapy.
And during that time, we have been asked to speak for workplace teams and conferences sharing our unique, effective and evidence-based solutions for health and well-being.
Programs can be offered in person (when health restrictions allow), by live-stream video, or by (just released!) on-line learning with programs that are compliant with the Canada Job Grant program – you can recover up to 2/3 of your training costs.
