Emerging WorkForce™ 1-Day Curriculum

The curriculum for the One-Day Emerging WorkForce is based on the modules of the Emergent WorkForce four day program. We have selected the modules that have the most impact for stress management, performance improvement, and for improving co-operating within the workplace.

While there is always a degree of flexibility in the contet for this program, the modules have been customized from our Emergent WorkForce™ program and concentrated to contain as much experience, and information as possible in the time allotted.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Allotted Time: ½ hour

We begin with a brief introduction to the program. This will include the format of the learning experiences, simple ground rules, and expectations.

LISTEN FROM THE INSIDE OUT

Allotted Time: ½ hour

There is a significant difference between hearing and listening. Hearing is the act of perception by our auditory system. It just happens, unless you are hearing impaired. Active listening is a learned skill that requires attention, interpretation and understanding. It is an essential skill in communication. People that excel in their endeavors have honed their ability to listen.

We tend to dismiss the effects of sound and music, because we are consistently bombarded with it, from traffic and construction noise to the sounds in the office, to the sounds of nature when out for a walk. This is called habituation, and is part of our defense mechanisms. It is only by listening and assessing the impact that a particular sound has on us, mentally – physically – emotionally – spiritually, that can we separate out what supports us, and what doesn’t.

The Sound Wellness Triple-I System™ will be introduced, and participants will use this tool to evaluate their experience throughout the program, and beyond. The Triple-I System stands for Investigate, Implement, and Integrate.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understanding and application of the Sound Wellness Triple-I System™. Participants will be able to gauge the impact of sounds and music, with the ability to assess what supports, and, even more important, what doesn’t.
  • Expansion of listening skills resulting in focus and attention to details.
  • Expansion of observation skills.
  • Expanded awareness to how sound is experienced.
  • Exploration of uniqueness of response.

ENGINEERED MUSIC

Allotted Time: 1 hour

This module delves into the use of Applied Psychoacoustic Music.

Psychoacoustics is simply the study of the effect that sound and music has on us.

Applied Psychoacoustic Music is the application of that knowledge in designing music to create specific results. This is essentially engineered music, designed to aid sleep, increase focus and concentration, heighten creativity, and more.

Learning Outcomes:

  • The understanding and experience of entrainment – the interdependence of the heartbeat, of breathing and of the brainwave state.
  • Application of how this type of music can be used purposefully in everyday life.
  • An exploration of uniqueness of response.

RECLAIM THE BRAIN

Allotted Time: 1 ½ hour

Connecting the left and right hemispheres of the brainBrainwave entrainment is an ancient and now modern technology to connect the hemispheres of the brain to enhance its capacity.

The left hemisphere of the brain is associated with logic and speech, while the right hemisphere is associated with emotions and creativity. Research has demonstrated that using entrainment frequencies enhances the capacity of the brain by synchronizing the hemispheres. This expands a person’s abilities and talents, and supports physical well-being, while reducing the body’s response to stress.

Coupled with the right sounds and music. It can be a great tool to improve focus and concentration, enhance creativity, and more.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Observation and awareness of 3 main brainwave states – Beta, Alpha, Theta.
  • Application and experience of how music can be used purposefully to stimulate specific brainwave states for a tool to enhance focus and flexible, creative thinking.
  • Exploration of uniqueness of response.

SECONDS TO A HEALTHY CYCLE

Allotted Time: 1 hour

The Nitric Oxide cycle is one of the most important natural cycles in our bodies, supporting our immune system, the digestive tract, and the cardiovascular system. Nitric oxide moleculeThe Nitric Oxide molecule is involved in almost every function of the body. However, it can be easily suppressed by stress, by fatigue, or illness, with short term and long term consequences.

Scientific study has validated that specific frequencies of sound can stimulate this vital process in our cells, supporting overall health and well-being. One of the most powerful of these frequencies is reproduced by the Perfect fifth tuning forks which can stimulate the nitric oxide cycle, in less than 30 seconds.

This module will explore the science and the use of this simple tool. Because it is so important, each person will be given a set as part of the course materials for their own use.

Learning Outcomes:

  • The importance of the cellular nitric oxide cycle.
  • How to reinforce the natural nitric oxide cycle, reducing of effects of stress.
  • How to correctly activate and use the Perfect Fifth forks.

MINDFULNESS

Allotted Time: 1 hour

Mindfulness has a significant impact on communication and safety. It is a proven way to reduce stress and improve health (physical, emotional and mental), thereby reducing absenteeism. In this interactive session you’ll discover what mindfulness is and how it works. You’ll also learn simple, effective mindfulness tools – such as meditative and breathing techniques to increase Presence, Calm, Focus and Performance – and have some fun! Thirty+ years of research show that Mindfulness benefits also include Reduced Anxiety and Depression, Improved Attitudes and Strengthened Relationships.

The Mindfulness module of our Sound Wellness training provides effective tools and techniques to help you incorporate Mindfulness (defined as being fully present to the moment in non-judgmental awareness) into all aspects of your personal and professional life to feel calmer, more relaxed, yet focused, and enrich your interpersonal relations.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Reduced Stress, Anxiety and Depression.
  • Increased Clarity and Focus.
  • Improved Attitudes and Behaviors.
  • Increased Motivation to make Lifestyle Changes.
  • Improved Communication and Safety.
  • Improved Performance.

PERCEPTUAL INTELLIGENCE

Allotted Time: ¾ hour

Our vision is distorted by the colour of our sunglassesWe all have our own perceptions. It has been said that there is no one truth for our individual truths have been coloured by our perceptions and beliefs, our upbringing and past experience – just as our vision is coloured when wearing a pair of sunglasses.

This module is an awakening to our perceptual filters, and explores ways to understand how perceptual filters affect communication – opening the door to kindness, wisdom and compassion.

This is the foundation for those working with others, as it opens an individual to recognizing, and even expecting different points of view.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Investigation of sensory perception and how perceptual filters affect us.
  • Understanding how our perception is filtered by beliefs.
  • Creating clarity of perception and its role in communication.

THE POWER OF THE VOICE

Allotted Time: 1 hour

The Power of Your VoiceOne of the most powerful tools you have to navigate through everyday life is your voice. It is one of those things that, like air, is always there, but we pay little attention to it. Your voice is your communication center. And it communicates both verbally and non-verbally. Your voice communicates from many different aspects of who you are.

Some of these ways are:

  • Tone of voice is related to the voice of your emotions. Emotion colors everything.
  • Your body has a voice you use every day.
  • Your mind has a voice.
  • And your soul has a voice.

In this module we will explore understanding tone of voice and how it shows up in communication. We will experience how the voice of the body stimulates the natural healing response. We will explore the critical voice of the mind and how to use it as the learning tool it is designed for. And we will explore how to listen to the soul’s voice for inspiration.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Expansion of awareness to the many ways voice affects us.
  • Understanding of the appropriate role of the critical voice of the mind in learning and mistakes.
  • Implementation of several ways to use the voice to stimulate the natural healing ability of the body.

WRAP-UP AND DE-BRIEF

Allotted Time: ¼ hour

Presentation of certificates of Achievement, completion of evaluation forms, closing.

Please Note: Because this program is completed in one day, it is not eligible for funding under the Canada Job Grant program.
Our four and five day programs are eligible for up to 2/3 funding in most provinces.
